NDP Caucus launches questionnaire for minimum wage and low wage earners
Today the NDP Caucus is launching a questionnaire for those working in minimum or low wage jobs. The NDP Caucus defines low wage as those who earn $15 per hour or under.
Leader Alison Coffin says while the government Minimum Wage Review Committee’s online survey deadline was earlier this week, the NDP Caucus is not confident that the Review Committee survey will capture the voices of minimum and low wage earners.
“We decided to develop our own questionnaire as we must ensure that minimum and low wage earners have a voice in how the NL minimum wage will be increased,” said Coffin.
“Regardless of what government’s Review Committee comes up with, we will use the results from our questionnaire to continue our collective efforts to make a $15 minimum wage a reality for the people Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Coffin.
Coffin says the experiences, insights, and ideas of minimum and low wage earners are extremely important to this discussion.
The NL NDP Caucus Questionnaire for Minimum Wage and Low Wage Earners is available at www.nl.ndp.ca/minimumwage. The questionnaire is completely anonymous and does not require a log in or the creation of a user profile.
