February 18, 2025
NL NDP Leader Jim Dinn (St. John’s Centre) is in Labrador West this week to participate in the MINEx 2025 Convention & Trade Show. He will be joining MHA for Labrador West, Jordan Brown, who will be speaking at the event.
MINEx 2025, organized by the Labrador West Chamber of Commerce, is a three-day event featuring presentations, panel discussions, a trade show, and social events focused on opportunities in mining and community development in the region.
"The mining industry is the backbone of the Labrador West economy, providing good-paying jobs and driving growth in the region," said Jim Dinn. "Attending MINEx gives me the opportunity to hear directly from industry leaders, workers, and community members about the challenges they’re facing and how we can ensure mining continues to benefit Labradorians. Whether it’s improving working conditions, addressing housing shortages, or making sure the industry remains sustainable, I want to be part of the conversation on how we build a stronger future for this region."
In addition to attending MINEx 2025, Dinn and Brown will engage with constituents to discuss pressing issues affecting the community. They will host a town hall on Thursday, February 20 that focuses on the rising cost of living and finding solutions to support Labradorians.
"The cost of living remains a major concern for the people of Labrador West. While every district faces challenges, Labrador West has unique circumstances that need to be understood to find real solutions," said Jim Dinn. "This town hall is an opportunity to hear directly from the community and work together on ways to make life more affordable."
MHA Jordan Brown added, "I'm pleased to welcome NDP Leader Jim Dinn back to the Big Land. Together, we’ll listen to residents, discuss the issues that matter most, and push for meaningful change."
