The NL NDP Caucus stands in solidarity with CUPE education workers in Ontario

On behalf of the NL NDP Caucus NL NDP Leader and MHA for St. John’s Centre has sent a letter of support in solidarity with CUPE education workers in Ontario, and NDP MPPs who continue to fight for workers’ rights.

“We need to be concerned with what the Ontario Government is doing to workers’ rights. Invoking the notwithstanding clause is an attack on all workers' bargaining rights across the country and on our Charter rights,” said Dinn. “The legislation the Ontario government is expected to pass today and will impose a contract on CUPE education workers in that province and ban them from striking.

“This political maneuver is unacceptable, and the NL NDP Caucus stands in solidarity with CUPE education workers in Ontario as they exercise their Charter right to job action,” said Dinn. “This is a chilling, unprecedented approach and cannot go unnoticed.”
