NL NDP Offer Condolences on the Passing of Ed Roberts

The NL NDP would like to offer condolences on the passing of former Lieutenant-Governor, Provincial Cabinet Minister, and Member of the House of Assembly, Ed Roberts.

Ed Roberts was involved with the Liberal Party since the 1960s. He started as an aide to Premier Smallwood, and later entered the House of Assembly himself, briefly serving as Liberal Leader in the mid-70s. He also served in the cabinet of Clyde Wells in the 1990s, retiring in 1996. He was appointed to the Lieutenant Governor in 2002 and served until 2008. Roberts was also chair of the Rhodes Scholarship Committee for this province, and was awarded the Order of Canada in 2009.
