NDP Lauds Churchill for Forcing Accountability on Healthcare Vacancies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

30 January, 2024

Following the by-election in Conception Bay East - Bell Island Raj Sharan, President of Newfoundland and Labrador’s NDP, thanks Kim Churchill for her dedication to the campaign and for uncovering over 1900 vacancies in healthcare which forced the government to come clean. Though unsuccessful in the by-election, Sharan attributes the tenacity and dedication of candidate Kim Churchill as the driving force that saw more individuals turn out to support the NDP than in the 2021 election.

“We are honoured and thankful to have had Kim Churchill as our candidate for the by-election in Conception Bay East - Bell Island,” said Sharan. “For a political first timer her effort and dedication was nothing short of awe-inspiring.  She stood up and demanded better for the people of the district, and we look forward to her success in future campaigns.

“Our voter support has increased from the general election in 2021, and we will continue to build on that by being the voice for those who want better accessible health care, stronger and inclusive education and a robust economy for all.  Our NDP MHAs will hold the government to account for the promises they made on the campaign trail, their broken promise of $10/day daycare for all, and demand they end their reliance on for profit travel nurses and fill the almost 2,000 openings in the public health care system.”
