Dear New Democrat, What a week we have coming up for the NL NDP! We are down to the last week of the exciting byelection campaign in Mount Pearl North and Jagmeet Singh, our new federal NDP Leader, will be in St. John's on Tuesday, November 14 to spend the day meeting and greeting. First, the campaign: Nicole Kieley is burning up the streets of Mount Pearl North. She hasn't stopped knocking on doors since she made the decision to throw her hat in the ring for the nomination as the NDP candidate. And the Pearlers are responding to this vibrant social democrat, feminist activist, and community organizer. I light up on the phone when a voter says "Yes, I've met her and I've decided I'm voting for her and the NDP for the first time." And this is happening over and over again. Nicole brings a message of energy, caring, and a desire to work for young and old alike in Mount Pearl North. Her HQ is full of volunteers coming and going as they support her message, knock on doors, and keep the phone lines busy calling to shore up the votes. As well, these workers are kept nourished by the food that other volunteers fill the room with. And Jagmeet Singh will be one of those people in the campaign headquarters on Tuesday when he drops in to greet Nicole and show his support for her. Nicole is quite excited about this unexpected visit by the federal Leader and is hoping many of you will turn up to meet him at 3:00 p.m., Nov. 14, at the campaign headquarters at 39 Commonwealth Avenue. I wish everyone in the party could be in St. John's and Mount Pearl this week to feel the growing excitement. If you are, I really encourage you to make your way to Mount Pearl North for the final week of making Nicole known to all voters by knocking on doors, doing phone canvassing, and all the tasks that make for a successful campaign. If you can't volunteer in person, I encourage you to show your support by making a donation to the campaign so that Nicole can pull out all the stops this week. Requests continue to pour in for lawn signs and those signs cost money. Please give, if you can.
