Black History Month and Black history as a whole remain largely absent from the English and French school curriculum in our province. As a result, many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are unaware not only of their own connection to this proud history, but also of the profound contributions Black people and Black Canadians have made to our province, our country, and the world.
Education plays a critical role in challenging institutional racism and prejudice. By ensuring that Black history is taught and Black History Month is recognized in classrooms, we take an important step toward building a more equitable and inclusive society—one that values and reflects all of its citizens.

Heating your home isn’t a luxury — and families, seniors, and renters are already struggling with rising costs. Taxing home heating only makes it worse. This rebate used to help, and bringing it back would offer immediate, practical relief.
