The Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party (NL NDP) is proud to announce that Raj Sharan has been officially nominated as the party’s candidate in Virginia Waters-Pleasantville for the 2025 provincial election.

Raj Sharan is a husband, father of two, and a proud Newfoundlander by choice and by heart. Raised in Canada, he moved to St. John’s from Montreal at the age of eleven and has called the province home ever since. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s in the environmental field from Memorial University, and has built a successful career in Information Technology. Sharan is the current president of the Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party.

Sharan is passionate about building a stronger, fairer Newfoundland and Labrador. He’s focused on growing the economy, ensuring accessible healthcare, and supporting an education system that helps everyone reach their potential. He believes in a province where families thrive, opportunities are within reach, and young people can build their future at home.

NL NDP Leader Jim Dinn says Raj Sharan’s passion for innovation and commitment to finding better solutions to the challenges facing Virginia Waters–Pleasantville and the province will make him a strong voice in the House of Assembly.

“Raj brings a fresh perspective and a real commitment to thinking outside the box,” said NL NDP Leader Jim Dinn. “The status quo isn’t working—on housing, healthcare, or the cost of living—and we need people like Raj in the House of Assembly who are ready to tackle these challenges with new ideas and bold solutions.”
