Jordan Brown Nominated in Labrador West as First NL NDP Candidate for 2025 Provincial Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 7, 2025

The Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party (NL NDP) is proud to announce that Jordan Brown, MHA for Labrador West, is the party’s first officially nominated candidate for the 2025 provincial election. A dedicated opposition voice, Brown has been a relentless advocate for his district.

Since his election, Brown has fought to address Labrador West’s housing crisis, wildfire readiness, and air access. His efforts have helped restore NL Housing units, secure seniors’ housing support, and improve wildfire response resources. He has also pushed for better healthcare, successfully advocating for changes to the Medical Transportation Assistance Program (MTAP) to improve service for Labradorians.

Brown has been a strong voice for workers, calling for Anti-Scab Legislation and paid sick days. He has also led the charge for improved air access, presenting a petition with nearly 4,000 signatures demanding reliable transportation options. With industry driving the region’s economy, he successfully pushed government to secure hydroelectricity for mining and development.

“Labradorians deserve better than being an afterthought to decision-makers in St. John’s,” said Brown. “I’m proud to stand with the NL NDP and Leader Jim Dinn to fight for real change—better healthcare, affordable housing, and fair treatment for Labrador West.”

NL NDP Leader Jim Dinn praised Brown’s record, calling him a fearless advocate for his community.

“Jordan Brown has consistently shown what the NL NDP stands for—fairness, justice, and real change for working people, families, and seniors,” said Dinn. “Whether it’s housing, healthcare, or holding government accountable, he never backs down.”

The NL NDP’s campaign will focus on fixing healthcare, tackling affordability, and building a better future for Newfoundland and Labrador.

The NL NDP's next nomination will occur in Waterford Valley.
