The Newfoundland and Labrador New Democratic Party (NL NDP) is proud to announce that Greg Rockwood has been officially nominated as the party’s candidate in Cape St. Francis for the 2025 provincial election.
For the past six years, Greg has been a tireless advocate for workers’ rights through the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1560—first as Vice President, and now in his second term as President. His leadership extends province-wide as an Executive Officer with CUPE NL, and locally as Second Vice President of the St. John’s & District Labour Council. A proud father and community advocate, he’s running to bring real, working-class leadership to the House of Assembly.
“I know the struggles working people face—I’ve lived them. I’ve felt the pressure of rising costs, stagnant wages, and underfunded public services. That’s why I stepped up in the labour movement, and that’s why I’m stepping up now. I’m ready to fight for real solutions that put people before profits,” says Rockwood. “The NL NDP is the only party consistently standing up, not just for workers’ rights, but for everyday people who deserve fairness, dignity, and a government that puts their needs first.”
NL NDP Leader Jim Dinn is thrilled to have Rockwood onboard, stating that his history fighting for the rights of workers makes him a perfect New Democrat candidate.
“Greg has the experience, drive, and determination it takes to bring real change to our province,” said Dinn. “He’s been a tireless advocate for workers, and I know he’s ready to bring that same energy to the fight for better housing, stronger healthcare, and real affordability for everyday people.”
