NDP MHA Jordan Brown (Labrador West) wrote Premier Hogan today calling for him to include the Labrador West Third Transmission Line Project to the province’s request to Prime Minister Carney’s call for “Nation Building Projects”.

In the letter, Brown highlights that as mining and energy continue to grow and modernize, now is the time to promote projects in the province that will allow us to be leaders in the industry, while also creating more jobs and opportunities for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

As you are well aware, industry in Labrador West is undergoing changes as the world steel market transitions to a low-carbon method of production in order to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and implement new technologies to minimize carbon dioxide (CO2) release,” Brown wrote. “These developments efforts to reduce carbon emissions has made Labrador iron ore a highly sought after product.

“The Labrador West Third Line Project is the future of mining for Labrador. It will help industry unlock more resources, build our community, and grow the GDP of the province significantly.”

A copy of the letter is attached.
