NL NDP MHA Jordan Brown (Labrador West) is pleased that his Private Members Motion urging the government to improve air access to, from and within Labrador was unanimously supported by all members of the House of Assembly.
Brown says that it was great to hear members stand and speak in debate and recognize the importance of Labrador – its residents, geographical features, culture and beauty and the mineral resources, fishing and electrical power that benefit all of the province.
“I want to thank my colleagues for showing their support for this motion. It was a great dedicated to talking about Labrador, and the contribution it makes to the province,” said Brown.
“Labrador is often forgotten when it comes to addressing many issues like cost of housing, healthcare, groceries and especially affordable interprovincial travel. Being able to bring these issues up and discuss the concerns we face with all members is extremely important, and I really hope to see more action from government on listening to Labradorians and making investments in our communities to continue our growth.”
Brown says while it’s feels great to get support across the board, he is waiting to see how government acts on this issue.
“Now we wait and see what action government will take. Prioritizing affordable airfare to, from, and within Labrador not only helps Labradorians, but it helps job opportunities, economic growth, and more tourism in the Big Land. Investing in Labrador is a win-win scenario, and I think this debate really enforced this.”
