NL NDP Leader Jim Dinn is travelling to Winnipeg to attend the Federal New Democratic Party Convention for the election of a new federal leader and connect with New Democrats from across the country.
During his time, he will also meet with the Minister of Housing, Addictions and Homelessness, Bernadette Smith, to discuss what the NDP Manitoba government is doing to combat homelessness and how they are working to address the need for more public housing stock. Tomorrow morning, Dinn will attend the Manitoba Legislature for Question Period.
While in Manitoba, Dinn will meet with Minister of Housing, Addictions and Homelessness Bernadette Smith to discuss the Manitoba NDP government’s approach to tackling homelessness and expanding public housing. He will also attend Question Period at the Manitoba Legislative Building.
Dinn says the convention is an important opportunity to exchange bold, practical ideas and advance the kind of innovative solutions New Democrats are known for. He adds that standing in solidarity with federal colleagues helps build momentum, strengthen shared priorities, and chart a positive path forward to help people struggling to make ends meet.
“There is no better place to hold this convention than in Manitoba. NDP Premier Wab Kinew has been showing people across this country exactly what New Democratic governments can achieve,” said Dinn. “I look forward to meeting with New Democrats from across Canada, discussing the issues that matter most to our constituents, and exploring new ways we can stand up for everyday people.”
