NDP Marks 80th Anniversary of D-Day

For Immediate Release

6 June, 2024

Jim Dinn (St. John’s Centre), Leader of Newfoundland and Labrador’s NDP, made the following statement:

“Eighty years ago, thousands of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians took part in the Normandy landings to free Europe from the grips of the Nazi regime.

This year, we recognize and reflect on Newfoundland and Labrador’s contributions to the war.

We remember the courage of those young Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who fought against hate eighty years ago.

We honour those whose young lives were cut short, making the ultimate sacrifice so we could stand here today as free people.

We will never forget their sacrifices for a more peaceful and safer world. On behalf of all New Democrats, I want to thank all veterans for their service and let them know how grateful we are to have them fighting for our country.

We will remember them.”
