NDP Leader Jim Dinn (MHA, St. John’s Centre) says the province’s housing crisis will continue until government starts taking the problem seriously.
“Today’s update on the Liberal Housing Plan just amplifies how out of touch they are with the real needs of so many in the province,” said Dinn.
He says more housing issues would be addressed at a lower cost to the public purse with the NDP’s Housing Plan, announced last month.
“With a housing first policy, amended legislation to protect tenants, and self-financed new public housing, we would be a lot closer to actually solving the housing crisis than we are with the Liberals’ so-called plan,” said Dinn. “The Liberal plan seems better designed to support developers and builders than regular people looking for decent homes that they can afford to live in.”
